It’s no surprise that us Brits love our curries – korma, madras, jalfrezi, and vindaloo are just some of our favourites. In fact, we love them so much that we’ve dedicated an entire week to it. National Curry Week runs from 9 – 15 October this year and you couldn’t be better placed to find a tastier curry than in Leicester.

The city’s Belgrave Road, also known as the Golden Mile is a melting pot of flavours and the area has been at the heart of the city’s thriving Asian community for more than 40 years. It’s here that you’ll find an abundance of restaurants, curry houses and takeaways as well as colourful authentic Indian sweetshops selling a tasty selection of delectable and moreish treats.

With Diwali on our doorstep and being celebrated next Thursday 19 October, the area has been lit up with bright lights and decorations including the Diwali Wheel of Light. Tourists have started making their way here to experience and be part of the wonderful annual celebrations. If you’re visiting, pop into a restaurant and indulge in a creamy korma, a vegetarian thali, a banging biryani or a delicious dhansak whatever you choose, you’re sure not to be disappointed.

As well as Belgrave Road, other quality restaurants are dotted around the city and county, including Runners Up and Winners in the first ever Leicester Curry Awards, held earlier this year. A full list of these are below:
