We are pleased to report some very exciting news – Leicester has been crowned ‘England’s Curry Capital’ – a title which it rightfully deserves!
The city received 89 per cent of the vote in this online competition – an overwhelming majority, and judges decided that it was indeed the country’s curry hot spot.
For those who don’t know, Leicester boasts the highest number of Indian restaurants per capita in the UK, with an average of 47 restaurants per 100,000 people. It is also lauded for its mouth watering diversity, with the city specialising in a wide range of South Asian dishes…
In Leicester, we really are spoiled for choice when it comes to delicious South Asian restaurants and takeaways scattered throughout the city as our awards show year after year.
Hopefully this award will highlight Leicester even further and give it the spotlight it deserves – bringing more people into the city to sample a few of its delectable eateries – curries cooked to the highest standard by hardworking chefs with the most fiery passion for the nation’s favourite dish!
