Amrut, Leicester’s much-loved Indian restaurant, is celebrating its first anniversary on 19 October with a series of exciting announcements.
In just one year, the family-run establishment has been honoured with the Leicestershire Curry Award for Best New Restaurant 2025, reflecting the city’s warm embrace.

Founded by sisters Shweta Joon, Shivani Joon, and Natascha Joon, Amrut was born from a desire to share authentic Indian flavours, traditions, and heartfelt hospitality. “When we opened Amrut, it was with a simple dream — to share the food of our heritage with Leicester. One year later, the response has been beyond what we could have imagined,” said the sisters.
Amrut has quickly become a beloved gathering place, welcoming people from all communities, and has been ranked number one among Leicester’s 1,200+ restaurants on TripAdvisor.
Over the past year, the restaurant has hosted high-profile guests including renowned singer Kailash Kher and Khun Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, Chairman of Leicester City Football Club.
As it steps into its second year, Amrut is unveiling new menus and food festivals. Guests can look forward to a Navratri Special Menu, a Seasonal Wellness Menu inspired by Ayurveda and local produce, and a Festive Menu designed for celebrations. A royal-themed food festival series will showcase dishes from the regal kitchens of India’s diverse states.
Head Chef Dharmendra Singh Gour shared, “Food is more than flavour — it is memory, wellness, and celebration. At Amrut, we curate menus that not only delight the palate but also nourish the soul.”
The sisters are also expanding Amrut beyond its restaurant walls with the launch of Amrut Utsav by The Amrut Experience, a bespoke catering venture that brings the warmth and flavours of Amrut to private events and homes.
From its authentic dishes to its spirit of community, Amrut has become a place where Leicester gathers not just to dine, but to celebrate life’s most meaningful moments.
As it enters its second year, the restaurant remains committed to serving with love, honouring its culture, and creating experiences that linger long after the last bite.
