A passionate curry connoisseur with a taste for exceptional quality, Mike is well placed to decide which finalists deserve to win on September 23. As his Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant, he is the British monarch’s personal representative here in Leicestershire and he is looking forward to attending this year’s awards where the exciting revelations will be made!

“Being Indian, curry’s been a fixture of my life since I was born and I have a great passion for it,” he says.

“It’s my second time judging and the competition is intense. Leicester is England’s Curry Capital and every restaurant works extremely hard to deliver exceptional food and service. They know they’re in a competition so they’ve definitely upped their game.

“Congratulations to all those who have been shortlisted,” he adds.

“Not everyone can win on the night, but to have made it to this stage is a great achievement in itself. Best wishes and good luck!”
